Comme un rêve…
Certains jours, lorsque je me réveille, je suis saisie par le désir de faire quelque chose. Quelque chose d’enthousiasmant. Quelque chose qui exprimerait simplement, avec une facilité déconcertante, ce que je suis. Je l’imagine. Mon esprit la déploie avec aisance. Je la tourne dans tous les sens, et elle prend forme sans effort. Qu’importe sa forme d’ailleurs ! Délicieux Royal au chocolat, incroyable robe, plaid ou pull, merveilleuse aquarelle, texte limpide, … Evidemment je me précipite sur sa réalisation. Mais je dois bien avouer que le résultat est souvent en deçà de mes espérances. Gâteau trop cuit, manches trop larges, paysage sans relief, texte laborieux. Je suis ramenée à la réalité limitée de mes talents… Et pourtant la motivation, qui m’a animée, m’a transportée. Même si mon texte ne ressemble guère aux poèmes d’Aragon, cette expérience est vivante et vibrante en moi.

Ma modeste expérience rejoint celle de Bachelard ! Oui, en imaginant mon pull, je l’ai inventé. J’ai touché le fil, j’ai scruté sa couleur, je l’ai imaginé tissé, assemblé, porté. Je l’ai créé. Mes yeux se sont ouverts sur la matière à transformer. Je l’ai sondée en la touchant, transformée en la travaillant.
Imagination et créativité : comme deux doigts de la main.
Et pourtant, l’imagination peut être stérile. Je peux passer ma nuit à imaginer un récit sans le coucher sur le papier au petit matin. A l’inverse, la créativité présuppose la réalisation. Un acte concret. Une marque, une trace laissée. Elle puise ses racines dans l’imaginaire, la spontanéité, les émotions, la sensibilité mais a besoin du réel pour se réaliser et donner jour à une œuvre… mon pull ou mon gâteau par exemple.
Une troisième invitée : la motivation.
La motivation est l’aiguillon qui pousse à l’action. Les études menées par Csikszentmihaliy (voir la vidéo en fin d’article) montrent que le défi est un facteur puissant de motivation. Il sollicite les capacités ; les compétences sont utilisées de manière optimum et l’individu est absorbé par son activité même si l’objectif n’est pas encore atteint. Cette situation, que Csikszentmihaliy nomme le flow, est repérable à trois phénomènes particuliers :
– La fusion de l’action et de la conscience : lorsque je fais mon gâteau, je suis concentrée, absorbée par sa réalisation,
– La perception de contrôle : je mobilise toutes mes capacités pour qu’il soit bon,
– L’altération de la notion du temps : je ne vois pas le temps passer, je ne vois plus la vaisselle s’accumuler dans l’évier, je n’entends plus ce que mon mari me répète pour la énième fois…
La motivation stimule les capacités, les mobilise. Elle fournit l’intensité nécessaire à l’aboutissement, à la réussite de mon Royal au chocolat. Elle confirme que le projet a du sens : régaler toute ma petite famille ce soir me comble de bonheur.
Du Royal au chocolat à l’écriture.
Mon gâteau est un exemple parmi tant d’autres pour parler du trio inséparable : imagination/motivation/créativité. Vous l’avez compris, il se décline dans toute action qui a du sens pour vous. Avec ce gâteau, mon désir de cohésion familiale est nourri. Le même processus est à l’œuvre dans l’écriture d’un texte. Si je m’absorbe dans la rédaction, mon désir de jeu, de questionnement, de recherche de sens est comblé. Et vous ?
