Aujourd’hui, je vous partage une lecture qui m’habite depuis plusieurs semaines. Le jardin d’Epicure fait partie de mes livres « cultes ». La dernière page est un supplice. Je voudrais qu’il ne s’achève jamais, que l’auteur continue son exploration. Irvin Yalom ne se contente pas de relater ses entretiens avec ses patients, il parle de lui. De sa manière de penser, de vivre, d’aborder la mort. A 75 ans, psychiatre et érudit de renom, l’auteur partage avec une acuité déconcertante, des instants clés de son histoire personnelles. Il traque, avec une grande bienveillance, les expressions multiples de l’angoisse de la mort chez ses patients. En allant jusqu’au bout, en osant imaginer et reconnaître la fin, il transmet un fort désir de vivre, plus encore, de bien vivre, en pleine conscience, la finitude. Son écriture authentique guide ses lecteurs vers une décapante thérapie existentielle.
